What is market cap in crypto?

Market cap: Price multiplied by the number of tokens in circulation: what the whole token is worth right now.

Market cap tells you how big a token is and how much room it has to grow. A token at $50k market cap can do 10x with a little buying; a token at $500M needs billions of dollars to do the same. On thin pools the market cap can be misleading: if liquidity is tiny, the price (and with it the market cap) can be pushed up with very little money.

Example

1 billion tokens at $0.002 = $2M market cap.
